A tennis bracelet is a continuous line of stones, each individually set in its own head, with the heads linked so the bracelet articulates freely around the wrist. The construction has to do two jobs at once: hold every stone square to the light, and flex in one plane only, so the line never twists and shows its edge.

This one is 9ct white gold, carrying 10.3 ct of lab-grown diamonds in total, in a mixed-shape line. As a shape, a mixed-shape line alternates cuts along its length, so no two adjacent stones throw light the same way.

Will this suit me?

  • Fit: The maker hasn't listed a length for this bracelet. Contact us to confirm it before you order. To check, wrap a strip of paper around your wrist just below the wrist bone, measure it, and add 1.5–2.5 cm.
  • How it looks: 10.3 ct in total: a heavy, high-carat line and a statement piece.
  • Everyday wear: Diamond will scratch almost anything, including a watch case and crystal, so wear it on the other wrist. The bezel settings have nothing to catch on clothing. Bracelets take a lot of knocks, and 9ct is the harder alloy, so it is the practical choice for daily wear. The bright white finish is rhodium plating, which wears with daily contact and can be renewed by a jeweller.
  • Other options: Metal: 9ct yellow gold.

A bezel setting wraps a continuous collar of gold around the girdle of the stone. It is the most protective setting there is: nothing catches, nothing snags, and the stone cannot be knocked loose from the side. The trade-off is that the collar covers a little of the stone's edge, so a bezel-set stone reads marginally smaller than a claw-set one of the same weight.

The quality of a tennis bracelet is read at the joints rather than at the stones. Even spacing, a consistent gallery height and a clasp that sits flush with the line are what separate a good one from a cheap one.

Specification

  • Total stone weight: 10.3 ct
  • Stone: Lab-grown diamond
  • Cut: Mixed-shape
  • Setting: Bezel-set
  • Type: Tennis Bracelet

9ct white gold is 375 parts per thousand fine gold in a white alloy, finished with rhodium plating for an even, bright white surface. Rhodium is a wearing surface and can be renewed by any jeweller when it thins.

Care. Check the clasp and the safety catch periodically; a tennis bracelet is worn on the most mobile joint in the body and the clasp does the most work of any component.
